Scripture Reading: Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” James 1:17
Things happen for a reason, no matter how you feel. It’s through your Faith, that you will receive an entirely new understanding of your life. God loved you even before he formed you in your mother’s womb. He has a plan for your life that is beautiful, perfect and amazing. By letting go of the wheel of control, its then, that we begin to truly enjoy life. Each move that we make, situation that we encounter and decision we have to make, was orchestrated by God. here are no chance situations and absolutely no luck. Every blessing, trial, or encounter is setup by God, with a specific purpose for your life. We might not always understand what is going on, or why..but God does.
All of us have job hunted at one time or another. Can you recall any difference in job hunting perspective before you were born again in Christ to now? I was job hunting for a new tech sales position and got a job interview lined up very quickly and almost too quickly for my comfort. Without any phone call as a prerequisite or even multiple exchanges of emails back and forth, I was asked how soon I could come in for an interview. I had sent the hiring manager a single outbound message directly to his social media profile page (LinkedIn). I introduced myself, what I wanted and why I was interested in his company. All in all about 4 or 5 sentences and I concluded the message with a “God Bless” and then entered my name in conclusion. Within 5 minutes or less, I received this response “Hi Darren- would you be able to come in for an interview this Friday?”
I have been in sales all my life and been through hundreds of interview situations and never had I experienced one setup so easily like this one. In technology sales job hunting, it typically it is 3 to 4 calls, email exchanges, resume Q/A via phone THEN you get the in-person interview. Was the hiring manager looking for a candidate who would take the first step and reach out to him directly? Or maybe it was the way I composed my sentences in the perfect order and set a next step and action item for him? Was it that the company badly needed sales reps? This was a booming IT security company, and it definitely wasn’t any one of these, it was God. I knew without a doubt that I was either going to get this job or I wasn’t. Now that a typical situation when you go to a job interview right? Wrong…here the perspective…this interview got setup so easily because of God period. Either A) This was exactly where he wanted me to work or B.) This was a situation where he wanted me to learn something very important that would lead me to the right road. Either way God’s in control, he knows what he is doing and I know that today. BTW I didn’t get that job because God had something way better in mind for me, he wanted me to start my own company. So I did.
God still expects you to put in the footwork for your goals. Letting go of the wheel but then taking your foot of the gas, completely negates the act of Trust you made, of taking your hand off the wheel. Simply put: give God control of the direction but keep your foot on the gas. That is real trust. If we say God’s in control, I trust him then we go lay in our bed our day we achieve nothing. God doesn’t want this and neither do we.
With Faith, your understanding when it comes to life, is Trust. Are we frantically grabbing at straws and getting frustrated when we aren’t getting the results we want? It’s unfailing, unbreakable and unshakeable trust that will allow you to achieve everything you have wanted and more. Is your trust in God or in your own cleverness? Are you taking the time to step back when you have a “wow” moment to give yourself on the back or are you looking up and saying “Ok God, thank you”? God searches our hearts and minds regularly to determine where our trust is. “I the LORD search the heart and examine the mind, to reward each person according to their conduct, according to what their deeds deserve." Jeremiah 17:10
Key Point: Trust God, he knows what he is doing. Period. Understanding is Trust applied towards Faith
