Scripture Reading: “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.” Ecclesiastes 3:1
Balance is pleasing to God. God will create enough time in the day to allow you to complete your responsibilities and still give you enough time to enjoy it if you know how. To enjoy life means to appreciate the time you have and use it with purpose. What are your priority lists for each day? The Lord does not give you an exact step by step priority list for every exact life situation, however he teaches that through biblical balance you will find answers. Biblical balance refers to the relationship hierarchy of where our attention needs to be focused to live in Victory. By focusing our attention first on God, then on our Family, and then on our own desires that its then we begin to clearly areas were see how important this balance, the Holy Spirit will lead you into deeper truth to the balance needed to achieve real victory. You are not living in Victory if you are succeeding at work yet the relationship with your family members is deteriorating. You are not living in victory if you are home with your family, but everyone is in separate rooms watching the tv, surfing the internet, or playing on their phones. It’s through building a balance into life and refocusing the time you do have, that you will begin to experience and enjoy life like never before.
God is our number one priority. When you seek God first ,everything else you need will be provided. It’s when we put other thing The bible teaches,” But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these will be given to you as well.” Matthew 6:33. We have so many things pulling at our time throughout the day it is hard sometimes to prioritize where we need to spend it. Time is the most precious thing that you have. You can’t get it back, you can’t hurry it up you must just live through it. When you remember to keep putting God first in your priority list, it becomes easy to see areas were your time could be better spent. Have you ever caught yourself obsessively checking your phone to see if someone you love texted you, or every 5 minutes reviewing your social media page, refreshing your recent post every 30 seconds to see if you have gotten any new “Likes” on it. I have done all of these things and its in these moments that I’ll catch myself sometimes, saying woah!! I need to slow down on this. I’ll go to pray and ask God to help me find balance so that I may achieve everything he wants me to achieve for the day.
It’s through constantly checking your motive against God’s will that you can achieve Balance. Balance gives you peace. Balance gives you Victory. Balance gives you Life. Without balance you are missing the mark on areas, that when God graced us with anther day, he intended you to focus. It’s by hitting all the areas of focus through your Balance that you will achieve Victory in Life!!
Take time today to check yourself against your motive for the time you are spending on your different electronic devices. We are focusing on this balance with electronics because that is the world that we live in today. John is a 16 year old that carried his phone with him every where he went in the house. He would journey from his bedroom only out into the kitchen to check to see if there was any new food since the last time he checked 15 minutes ago. However for this short 30 second journey he couldn’t leave his phone in his room and on the journey to the fridge the phone also took the journey. Never leaving a distance of 12 inches from his face did this phone go. How John could even find the right steps to the fridge I won’t know, I guess when you take a regular journey you know the steps automatically. The point here is that we need to help guide our children into balance with their electronics. By setting electronic free zones for ourselves and our children, you will allow for a new freedom for life to happen in your home and love to prosper. We need to focus this same balance on our own habit with electronics as well. Electronic free zones will allow for focus to be redirected into the areas God intended for the day. Electronics are wonderfully amazing and if God didn’t want us to have electronics, then we wouldn’t have them. But, the benefit of balance with our electronics will help us uncover new purpose in our day as God intended.
The benefit of balance is life. It’s through balance that you will have the time to enjoy, accomplish, and build real victory in your life. The bible teaches, “he has made everything beautiful in its time” Ecclesiastes 3:11. There is a time and place for everything in God’s kingdom. God wants us to enjoy technology, it’s a part of the world we live in, but the benefit of balance far outweighs the benefit of obsession. Are you using all the time in your day to accomplish what God wants you to accomplish? Are you setting boundaries for yourself and for your kids when it comes to electronics? It’s through a balance that put god’s first, where you begin to realize areas that need improvement. God doesn’t want you to enjoy life, he wants you to have the life we you always dreamed.
Prayer for Balance
Lord,
I want to seek you first in all that I do. Help me accomplish the tasks you have in front of me for the day. Show me the areas in my life, that I am spending to much of my time on and were my time is better suited for your purpose for me. Guide me into a better balance so that I may live a life in victory and one that is pleasing to you.
Amen.
Key Point: The benefit to balance is life. Ask God to help you find your balance so you can start enjoying your life in ways you never thought possible.
