Scripture Reading: “For, everyone that calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
Romans: 10:13
Jesus Christ is the foundation of Faith. When you apply Faith in Jesus Christ, to your role as a Christian, it’s then you begin to allow God to work in your life to transform you into the amazing person he intended. It is your responsibility to get to know Jesus Christ. By getting into God’s word through a short daily devotional, bible study or nightly reading of his word you allow your Faith to Grow. Without knowledge of Christ or how he calls us to live, how can you lead you or your family’s life in the direction of Christ? “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who build his house on the rock.” (Matthew 7:24). As Christians, it’s absolutely crucial as you begin a journey to strengthen your Faith, that you firmly plant and establish your belief in Christ. You need to let Jesus know that you are ready to grow and need his help. You need to be honest with God and let him know that you realize you can’t do it without him and no matter how good you think your life is, it can always be better…you can be happy, really happy! Once you let God know you trust him, have Faith in Jesus and turn your will over to him, its then you will discover the hope, purpose and peace that God promises for your life.
The “Declaration of Faith” Prayer is not a magic formula to an instant intimate relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ, but it is where we start. And it’s when we truly say this prayer and mean it with all of our being, that you will see real results in your life. There are many different forms or ways to say this prayer, but the key points are we confess our past sinful life, ask God to forgive us, admit we are ready to trust Jesus as our Lord and ask Christ to direct our paths going forward. It’s through our faith in Christ and by the grace of God that we are called to be saved. “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16). Salvation comes through the Grace of God and it’s through our commitment to faith in Jesus Christ that our Spirit becomes awakened. This only happens once we are fully ready to turn away from our old life and surrender to the fact that we were not designed to live without our purpose being centered around living for God and not for ourselves. It is by praying to God for a relationship and acknowledging the points of our Faith, you are letting God know you believe his word is true and you are ready to change. Once you take this step towards God, and ask him to start working in your life, it’s then that you can begin to be strengthen our relationship with Christ and our Faith will grow. Your transformation will start in your Spirit and your Faith begins to grow your life will improve.
By praying the “Declaration of Faith” prayer, you are letting God know that out of your free will you are choosing to believe in him through the Faith he gave you through Jesus Christ. This prayer is one of my favorite prayers and is not to be mistaken for a prayer that is only said one time. This prayer can be said anytime you feel it is appropriate to confess to God what you believe in your hearts and when we are seeking renewed relationship with God. By saying this prayer through a regular routine, it allows me to re-ground into the very core of what Faith is and lays the essential building blocks for growth in Faith. The true source of your strength comes from God and children of God, we cannot begin to grow stronger in our Faith until you are ready to acknowledge this. Your humility in letting God know you need him is pleasing to God. The bible tells us that “without faith it is impossible to please him, for he who comes to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him.” (Hebrews 11:6) By asking God for a real relationship with Christ by praying the “Declaration of Faith” this demonstration of your humility and your Faith pleases God and allows room for Jesus to begin his work in you.
God has given you the key to Faith through Christ Jesus. It is through your Faith in the life of Jesus Christ, where you can begin to seek the glory of God. By thanking Jesus for dying for your sins you acknowledge that he has given you the opportunity for a new life through God’s forgiveness. When you ask Jesus to send the Holy Spirit to guide you, you are letting him know that you are ready for growth in Faith and are asking him to show you the way. By accepting and looking for his Holy Spirit that he has promised us in the Bible, your Faith will grow and Christ will begin to direct your paths. When you put your Faith in Christ to lead, your life will be forever changed. By beginning a lifestyle which is centered around God, your efforts will turn into passion and passion will explode into Faith. When you put your trust in Christ to lead your life it allows a freedom to enjoy life like you have never known. It all begins with a desire for growth and a discipline towards your Faith to achieve results.
I was raised in a Christian home, had been to church and was taught that I was supposed to believe in God. Believing and knowing are two very different things. I had heard that through Faith in Jesus Christ I could attain Salvation and then maybe God would start helping me with some of my problems. Two times in my life I had gotten down on my knees when times got tough and I shot up a 911 pray similar to the “Declaration of Faith.”. When I didn’t have an immediate burning bush experience I said, “to hell with it” and went right back into to my old selfish driven lifestyle. Then a third time my lifestyle ended me right back in the same situation, but this time it was much worse. This time when I got down on my knees and asked for God to forgive me and for Jesus to be the Lord of I life, I meant it with my whole being. The difference was that I realized before praying the prayer the 3rd time, that my way would never and could never work without God. When I said the prayer this time I truly submitted to God and turned my will over to his son Jesus Christ. This time after saying the prayer, I waited patiently and began to make the right decisions in my daily life. Very soon I began to realize a true and real transformation in my life. God had heard my prayer and sent his Holy Spirit (the counselor) to begin the work needed in me, to achieve real change and growth in my life. You don’t have to let your life get as far damaged as I did before being truly ready for this prayer, you can say the same prayer I did (Declaration of Faith) and begin your new life today. Don’t take my word for it… take Gods.
“Declaration of Faith”
Father,
I know that my choices have separated me from you and I have broken your laws. I am truly sorry, I now want to turn away from my past sinful life and live for you. Please forgive me and help me to avoid sinning again. I believe in your son Jesus Christ. I believe that Jesus died for my sins, was resurrected from the dead, is alive and hears my prayers. I invite Jesus to become the Lord of my Life, to direct my paths and reign in my heart from this day forward. Please send your Holy Spirit to help me obey you and to do your will for the rest of my life.
In Jesus’ name.
Amen
